Welcome to Little Chef’s Apron! Today we will be making a different type of biscuits and it is super fun! The aroma fills your house with an amazing baked odour!
I know I haven’t posted in a few days but that was because I had my final exams going on. Now, I am done with my finals and 8 th standard😁. We have been given a week’s holiday before the new grade starts and I will be posting very frequently because I have a lot of new recipes on my list! Also, I recently started a Pinterest boards and it’s a board where I add all the final pictures of my recipes. Check it out and do follow for the pics and recipes!
Starting with today’s recipe,
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/3 cup custard powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp rose water(optional)
1/3 cup + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 cup icing sugar
Milk as required
1/4 chopped nuts of your choice
Directions:
First, cream together butter, icing sugar and vanilla. If you are using rose water, add that as well.

. Mix it well until it’s white and combined. Sieve in flour, custard powder, baking powder and soda.

. After it’s done, also add in the chopped nuts. Give it a good mix and it would be extremely crumbly which is exactly what we want.

Add a tablespoon of milk at a time and make a very soft and smooth dough. Knead it for some time and make sure it’s not sticking.

Then, divided into two portions. Wrap it tightly in different cling wraps and make sure it is very tight.

Now roll it cylindrically so it is equal at all sides. Now press on each side so that it forms into a cuboidal shape. Equally put pressure on all the four sides so it can get a square shape once cut.

Refrigerate For one hour and remove the cling wrap. Equally cut into the desired thickness making sure that it is not to thick as they would not get baked.

Big time in a preheated oven at 180° for 20 to 25 minutes. Let them cool down completely once done and enjoy!

What is the difference between biscuits and cookies and how to make icing sugar at home?
Cookies and more on the chewier side while biscuits and crispy. In order to make cookies chewy brown sugar is used and they usually have fillings in them like chocolate chips or not.
To make biscuits crispy castor sugar or powdered sugar even though sometimes they have not seen them it is only to give them a crispier texture. While in cookies it acts as a contrast between the soft and crisp nature.
Making icing sugar at home is very easy. All you have to do is powder together 1 tablespoon of cornflower with 1 /3 cup sugar. This would give you 1/2 cup icing sugar. If you are making icing sugar for frosting then make sure that you sieve this once or else there would be chunks of sugar in the frosting.

Have something to tell me or tried out any of my recipes?
