Vacation series: episode#8 : Chocolate chip cookies!🍪

Hi everyone! Welcome to Little Chef’s Apron! Who doesn’t like classic plain cookies with a warm glass of milk? It truly is delicious and mouth watering.

The good part is that it required extremely basic ingredients. This recipe of cookies, when are baked, gives such a homely and bakery like aroma. That fragrance is half the fun of eating these cookies.

The richness increases when you dip it into a glass of milk and then eat. A Monday morning’s breakfast will make your whole day!

Starting off with the recipe,

Ingredients required:

1 cup all purpose Flour

1/2 cup softened and unsalted butter

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

1 tablespoon cornflour

Directions:

First, together butter, sugar, cornflour and vanilla. Once it is mixed and fluffy, place a sieve.

Sieve in flour, baking powder, baking soda into the cream butter and sugar.

Then gently incorporating the flour into the butter. After a dough is formed ,add the chocolate chips. Add a little milk if required.

Take small sized balls and press them into circular cookies. After all cookies are shaped, refrigerate them for 20 to 30 minutes until the butter hardens.

The reason for shaping first and then refrigerating is so that when the cookies go in the oven for baking, they don’t immediately melt ,forming a huge cookie. If the dough is refrigerated, then while shaping it would anyways become warm because of your hands. Whereas cold cookie is placed inside the oven ,the butter and sugar melts evenly.

Bake them on a greased tray with parchment paper in a pre-heated oven. Bake at 170 degrees for 15 minutes and at 180 degrees for five minutes. At the end ,the edges should be golden brown. Let them cool completely and enjoy!

I hope you guys liked this recipe and do let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Question of the day!

What do you prefer? Cookies or cakes, and why is that?

  1. Oh, I think baking soda only works with the things that have the acid for it to work with. Like cocoa powder. Or coconut. But not in vanilla Cookie!

    1. You’re right but here the acid is the little milk you use to bind the dough together. And baking soda is a usual combination with baking powder . It helps the cookies to be a little soft on inside and crisp outside. I hope it’s clear😃

          1. Mostly it will be required but if you don’t add also, the soda does make the cookies amazing in combination with the baking powder! I have tried this recipe a lot of times😃. It comes out great each time.

  2. Cookies or cakes? – it’s actually a very difficult question! I like eating cakes when it is something special, and I like eating cookies once in a while with milk – because milk and cookies are the best combo! Nice recipe, Aarushi!

  3. Those cookies look really good for being homemade! And I love the way that you describe how the food tastes, it makes me want to taste it even more. I’ll definitely have to try out this recipe, it looks simple but still tasty. I think I prefer cakes because you can get them in more flavours like carrot cake or cheesecake. Thanks for sharing!
